Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October
This annual event is organised by the Society of Ploughmen who are a registered Charity and were founded in 1972. Every year the Championships are held in a different location across the Country and this year they chose our land at Nocton to hold their event. This is only the sixth time in their 69 years that this prestigious event has been held in Lincolnshire.
On the Friday before the Championships began a Service of Dedication and Blessing of the Plough was held at Nocton Parish Church and this year the Managing Director of Beeswax Dyson Farming, Richard Williamson, was invited to become the President of the Society of Ploughmen.
Over 250 of the Country’s Championship ploughmen and women gathered to compete over two days. There were competitions for many types of ploughing including conventional and reversible ploughing, various vintage ploughing classes, young farmers, horticultural and the hugely popular heavy horses.
To compliment the ploughing matches there were a number of displays of agricultural machinery and over 120 trade stands, country craft demonstrations and shopping stalls. Beeswax Dyson Farming had a stand and it was a pleasure to meet the variety of people who had attended the event and explain a little about what our Company is about and what we do.
On both days of the Competition trophies were given to the winners of various ploughing classes. On Saturday they were presented by the Nocton Farm Manager, Mr Paul Carrott and on Sunday they were presented by the Society’s President Mr Richard Williamson.
Champion of Champions
There were a number of victors who qualified at the Ploughing Championships to represent England in 2020. These gentlemen will now compete in the World Ploughing Contest in Russia, the European Reversible Ploughing Championships and the European Vintage Ploughing Championships.
