Energy Production
Renewable energy production is an important part of our business, and it’s a relatively new field. That’s why we’re proud to be working with some of the best minds in the industry.
Nocton
Our first anaerobic digestion plant was part of the purchase of the land at Nocton Fen and its 2MW capacity produces enough energy to power 3,300 houses.
Our farming team quickly recognised the benefits of the digestate by-product that was being created, and both teams now work together to support this 24-hour operation.
Carrington
Our second anaerobic digestion plant was fully commissioned in January 2016 and, with a 3MW capacity, produces enough energy to power 7,100 houses.
As well as providing power to the National Grid, we also use the heat produced to support our farming activities, through drying produce such as grain and woodchip.
Anaerobic Digestion
In essence, anaerobic digestion plants use organic waste (manure, crops and food waste) to produce renewable power, biofertiliser and water.
At Beeswax Dyson Farming, we grow both food crops and energy crops. The growing of energy crops such as maize, rye, barley and grass allows us to implement a sustainable crop rotation, with diversity of cropping improving soil health, reducing weed burden and improving the utilisation of fixed costs. Applications of the by-product of anaerobic digestion back to the land increases its fertility and organic matter.
We're always on the lookout for new projects which work with - and enhance - our farming operation.
