Beeswax Dyson Farming is a hugely diverse farming business with a long term vision to improve our soils and act as a beacon of innovation in the development of agricultural technology.  We currently farm from Lincolnshire to Somerset and have a significant environmental commitment.

Due to expansion of the company’s activities we are recruiting a Trainee Accountant to join the Finance team based at the head office in Nocton, Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to achieve a recognised accounting qualification while gaining valuable experience in a variety of accounting disciplines. This role is an exciting first step into a career in accounting and finance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Processing supplier invoices in accordance with operating procedures and deadlines ensuring that all invoices are processed effectively, and accurately, also accounting for the correct treatment of VAT and CIS deductions
  • Ensuring that all purchase invoice transactions are appropriately approved, coded and input onto the accounts payable system to maintain accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data and accounting records
  • Daily sorting and distributing post to the relevant departments & managers, dealing with any accounts payable issues and invoices as they arrive
  • Managing the accounts e-mail inbox including printing and stamping all relevant documentation, and dealing with queries that may arise
  • Answering the telephone in a polite, timely manner and assisting the caller with their enquiry
  • Coding all self-billing invoices to include all crops, livestock and energy sales
  • Manually Invoicing customers for product sold
  • Allocating all direct debit payments that have been entered as pre-payments
  • Reconciling as necessary supplier accounts which have been paid by direct debit
  • Entering and reconciling all receipts from the bank statement
  • Emailing all credit card holders details of their monthly credit card expenses in pdf and excel format
  • Supporting the Finance team with general administration including including filing, scanning and shredding

Person specification:

  • At least three A-Levels graded C or above or a degree graded at 2:1 or above
  • Must have a grade C in Mathematics at GCSE level
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude and commitment to health and safety
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Proactive and self-motivated to do a good job
  • Must be a competent user of Microsoft Office especially Excel
  • Must have the ability to work as a team and work effectively with other departments
  • Must thrive under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills and extremely organised
  • Ambition to progress beyond this role
